Meredith Hughes

Meredith Hughes photographs landscapes, flowers, nature, animals and the places she travels.  She looks for the emotional beauty in each scene and visualizes it as a photograph.  Her images are created using two DSLR cameras and Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Bridge post-processing software on her computer.

Meredith is influenced by David Muench, Galen Rowell, John Shaw and photographs in Outdoor Photography and Arizona Highways magazines.  She chose photography as her artistic medium because images can be created, edited, uploaded and printed much faster than with drawing or painting them.  She is also starting to enter her images in different photography contests.  For the past 15 years, Meredith has created a 12-month calendar of her images to give to her family and friends.

Coming from a family of artists:  painters, photographers and musicians, photography has emerged as Meredith’s primary artistic medium.  She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Music Education - Voice and sings in her church choir and in the Prescott Chorale.  The direction she sees her work going will be for sale on this digital portfolio website, stock photography and published on postcards, note cards and calendars.

Meredith Hughes

Meredith was born in Chicago and has lived and traveled all over the country (including living on both coasts). She moved to Prescott, Arizona in 2007 and loves taking photos in Arizona.

She takes beautiful photographs suitable for fine art, cards and calendars.  For the past 15 years Meredith has made an annual calendar with her images for family and friends.  Her photographs are taken mostly outdoors and include nature, animals, flowers, travel and landscapes as their subjects.

Meredith got her first camera at age 12 and bought her first digital camera in 2001.   Digital photography enables her to take a lot of pictures without paying and waiting for film to be developed and printed.  She is more creative and experimental now that she is only limited by available space on her memory cards and battery life.
